MARC GUBERMAN AIA, JUROR – CLOSING COMMENTS
“Santa Clara Valley is a center for innovation across many industries and it is certain that this role as a leader of technology and production will only expand over time. One unknown that exists is, what will we as the design community do with this focus and attention, with this opportunity. As a collective, this year’s Santa Clara Valley design jury has seen a great variety of projects with consistently well-executed designs and high-level of detailed craft. But what has made today’s winners stand out is the fact that each project has a strong position on site, program and user experience making them rooted in a specific place and purpose illustrating architecture’s ability to transform culture and the way the we live and work.
We all have first-hand experience in the design, engineering, fabrication and construction talent that exists here in Santa Clara Valley and we have a responsibility to continue to drive our industry to even greater heights, which means first a focus on our patrons: including clients, the community and the environment and second a focus on the industry itself: through collaboration and active discussion. The momentum and opportunity is certainly here, and what we do with this is our choice. Congratulations to all of this evening’s winners.”
