You can help AIA Silicon Valley continue to advance its mission to serve local architects and promote architecture and the built environment in Silicon Valley and beyond. AIA Silicon Valley needs and welcomes the enthusiastic participation of its members on the Board of Directors.

Serving in a leadership role offers an opportunity to play a direct role in determining the organization’s overall direction and impact all while expanding one’s personal and professional networks.

Open Positions

Vice President / President Elect

Term: 1 year, 2025

Duties. The Vice President / President-Elect shall possess all the powers and perform all the duties of the President in the event of the absence of the President or of the President’s disability, refusal, or failure to act and shall perform such other duties as are properly assigned by the Board of Directors or the President. The Vice President / President-Elect shall serve for one year, automatically ascending to the office of President.

Director – 2 Positions

Term: 2 years, 2025-2026

Duties: Directors play a very unique and important role in the organization. The Director should serve on multiple committees and assist the Vice President and Secretary with the organization of elections. The Director is also one of the most serviceable officers in the area of being a liaison between the Board of Directors and the constituency. He or she should know the “ins and outs” of the organization and be an enthusiastic team player.

All nominations, including a brief bio, headshot, and 100-word candidate statement, must be received on or before August 22, 2024 to be included on the ballot at our Annual Business Meeting on September 11, 2024. The nominee must be made aware and agree to the nomination before placed on the ballot. You may self nominate as well. Voting will take place at the Annual Business Meeting.

To qualify for a position on the AIA Silicon Valley Board you must be an active AIA Silicon Valley Member, an Associate Member, or Member Emeritus in good standing.

The expectations for Officers and Directors are as follows:

  1. Attend the monthly Board meeting (2nd Thursday of every month, 7:30-9:00 AM).
  2. Attend the Board Retreat (one day, Q4 2023).
  3. Attend and support all Chapter programs and events.
  4. Maintain documents within our Google Workspace holding key information, contacts, etc., to pass along to successor.
  5. Encourage member support and assist with promoting the AIA local chapter within the Architectural and Design community.
