Open to the public, this self-guided tour is a celebration of residential homes designed by architects. The dwellings featured are cutting edge, modern in design, imaginative in the uses and blends of materials, and sensitive to both surrounding neighbors and the environment.
Through teamwork, collaboration, and a shared vision, the licensed architects bring their homeowners dreams to reality. The three homes are located in Portola Valley, and Woodside. The tour includes a jewel-like modern home designed for scientists and music aficionados; a sustainable and livable farmhouse faced with exquisite recycled barnwood and native palette of stone; And a home anchored by a strong east-west axis with 180 degree views of the Bay Area hills. These homes range in size from 2,800 to 7,000 SF.
Home 1
Zeng Residence
Design Team
Architect: ZSD Architects
Location
Los Altos, CA
The Zeng Residence is a remodel of an old faux Mansard house. While retaining as much of the existing structure as possible, the new house integrates a more sustainable form of architecture that re-articulates the massing and facades in a contemporary way, reflective of its time and place.
Home 2
Davis-Wueste Residence
Design Team
Architect: Tobin Dougherty Architect
Location
Atherton, CA
The Davis home is designed to encourage indoor/outdoor living through fluid physical and visual connection of space. Planes of natural wood balance with floor-to-ceiling glass and clean modern cement panel. An architectural experience of light and lines and cantilevers.
Home 3
Road House
Design Team
Architect: Feldman Architecture
Location
Los Altos Hills, CA
Tucked away in Los Altos Hills, Round House is a geometrically unique structure; one of a few similarly shaped homes built in California in the 60s. Our team set out to craft a respectful enrichment of the home’s original form, focusing in on a site-sensitive response to the steep, challenging plot.
