Through the AIASCV, Architects have a unified voice on the business and the design issues important to all of us.
Advocacy is an integral part of our mission – to promote architects and architecture in Santa Clara County through legislative action at the State and local level. Ways in which we accomplish this is through
- Facilitating effective dialog between our members and the public
- Advocating for better community design
- Expanding the influence of architects in the community
- Serving as a voice on community, legislative and design matters
- Promoting AIASCV members and the value of their services to the public
How We Get Involved
Architecture 101 Program
As part of our community outreach program, our Advocacy Committee has developed a customized Architecture 101 program for our local municipalities. Our goal is to raise awareness and foster a greater exchange of ideas between the planning decision makers and the architectural design community.
We also want to be known as a resource in helping the public gain an awareness of architectural principals and vocabulary. We believe this is the first step to achieve better design for our communities.
Volunteers participate in a brainstorming workshop which focuses on a single design issue or issues involving municipalities, counties, public agencies, interested community members, and private sector stakeholders. Our architect teams collaborate in creating viable design options for a given problem or set of problems.
In our outreach efforts, we strive to influence a more responsive and improved built environment through public process, education and communication.
