Homes on 2020 Home Tours

DUE TO COVID-19, Home Tours 2020 has been canceled.

Open to the public, this self-guided tour is a celebration of residential homes designed by architects. The dwellings featured are cutting edge modern in design, imaginative in the uses and blends of materials, and sensitive to both surrounding neighbors and the environment.

Through teamwork, collaboration, and a shared vision, the licensed architects bring their homeowners dreams to reality. The four homes are located in Portola Valley, Palo Alto and Woodside. The tour includes a jewel-like modern home designed for scientists and music aficionados; a sustainable and livable farmhouse faced with exquisite recycled barnwood and native palette of stone; and a reorganized and modernized charming 1920s family home. These homes range in size from 2,800 to 7,000 SF.

Music Box | Portola Valley

A beautiful modern home with an open plan in the public spaces, amenable to switching between cozy living quarters and an entertainment and performance venue, despite the home’s small footprint.

Palo Alto Transitional Renovation | Palo Alto

Originally built in the 1920’s, charming original qualities were retained, such as the broad front porch and floor to ceiling windows, while the home has been fully reorganized and modernized. Located in a popular Palo Alto neighborhood.

La Questa Modern Farmhouse | Woodside

Built to be both sustainable and livable and set on 3 acres, the home is spacious, open, and blends with the beautiful surroundings. On the outside, they used recycled barnwood and native palette of stone, and inside, the home has energy efficiency, safe materials, and modern finishes.

Sunrise-Sunset | Portola Valley

Sunrise-Sunset takes advantage of the 180º views of the bay area hills from both the interior living spaces and the exterior private yard spaces, while creating a sense of privacy with neighbors. Beginning with a sunrise to sunset design concept, this home is anchored by a strong east-west axis and interior circulation corridor.

What makes the Silicon Valley Home Tours different than other home tours?

The Silicon Valley Home Tours was created to showcase the talents of Bay Area residential architects with the goal of educating homeowners. On the tour, you will observe first-hand how working with an architect can transform ordinary living spaces into responsive, tailored, domestic environments using a variety of design solutions.
